DHAKA, July 19, 2021 (BSS) - On the occasion of the upcoming holy
Eid-ul-Azha, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has formed 10 teams
to monitor the waste management of cattle markets and areas under
DSCC.
The teams will conduct on-the-spot field level supervision from 2 pm
on July 21 to 2 pm on July 24, a DSCC press release said today.
These teams have been formed under the leadership of the Regional
Executive Officers and the officers and employees of the various
departments of the corporation.
A central control room has also been set up at Shitalokkha hall of
the corporation for the supervision of sacrificial animal
waste-removal activities.
Any citizen under the corporation can contact the central control
room by dialing '01709900888' to send waste related information, seek
help of waste-related issue and remove animal-waste.
Officers and employees of different levels of the corporation will
be on duty in the Central Control Room in three shifts from 2 pm on
July 18 to 2 pm on July 24.
The officers and employees in charge of the Control Room will
supervise the ongoing waste removal activities at the field level.
Besides, about 375 vehicles including 90 open trucks, 53
compactors, 12 water trucks, 102 dump trucks, 14 pay-loaders, 81
container carriers, 9 tire dozers, 2 trailers, 9 skid loaders will be
engaged for waste removal activities at field level.
In order to protect the environment and keep it free from pollution,
about 30 tonnes of bleaching powder and 1800 liters of liquid
disinfectant will be sprayed.
Some 5,000 workers will be engaged in the removal of sacrificial
animal waste alongside additional other 5,000 workers.
Besides, on the occasion of Eid, 1,000 and 1,500 eco-friendly bags
have already been given to councilors and regional executive officers
respectively to distribute among people to put their sacrificial
animal waste.
