CU accords reception to Ekushey-Award winning journalist MA Malek

CHATTOGRAM, June 2, 2022 (BSS) - The authority of Chattogram University (CU)
has given a reception to MA Malek, editor of daily Azadi, for achieving
Ekushey Award.

With CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhtar in the chair, the reception was
held on the campus today.

Besides, 12 virtually-impaired students of the university were awarded with
scholarships from the President's optional fund and 10 meritorious students
were awarded with Engineer Abdul Khaleq Daily Azadi Scholarship at the same
ceremony.
 
MA Malek, also a member of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad
Sangstha (BSS) said, "If you do anything with the hope of getting the medal,
you will not get the medal. You must work selflessly. Then the medal will
come to you".
 
He said he never had the opportunity to study at any university.

"I feel proud to be welcomed from the university though I did not go to any
university," he added.
 
CU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Benu Kumar Dey, Registrar SM Monirul Hasan,
Proctorial Body of the University and Deans of various faculties were present
on the occasion.

MA Malek's two sons - Wahid Malik and Shihab Malik - were also present on the
occasion.

The government awarded him the Ekushey Padak in Journalism in 2022 for his
significant contribution to journalism.
