DHAKA, June 12, 2022 (BSS) - Speakers at a seminar here today said urban
social welfare offices has been working for the welfare of marginalized
people in urban areas and said that the government has been working to
improve their life and livelihood through providing then with micro-credit.
City Service Office-4 in Dhaka, one of 80 urban social welfare offices,
organized the seminar on 'Effective use of microcredit and skills development
training activities' with Social welfare officer Shahina Akhter Sweety in the
chair.
Regional Executive Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Suye Men
Joe was the chief guest at the seminar held at the hall room of Basabo
Dharmarajik Buddhist Mahabihar this morning.
He said the government allowances help marginalized people survive but
microcredit is give to make them for self-reliant. He asked the marginalized
people not to spend the microcredit for other purposes.
He hoped that one day hundred percent people of the country will become self-
reliant through government's assistance as well as private initiatives.
Deputy Directors of Social Welfare Office, Dhaka Md Raknul Haque and Mohammad
Nasir Uddin, Assistant Director of Department of Social Welfare Office, Dhaka
Mostafizur Rahman Helal and Assistant Director of Divisional Social Welfare
Office Dhaka Abdul Jabbar also spoke at the seminar.
At the beginning of the programme, social welfare officer Shahina Akhter
Sweety highlighted various activities of city social welfare office-4.
The seminar was attended, among others, by people of different classes and
professions as well as local administration, third gender, NGO
representatives and microcredit borrowers and beneficiaries.
