31st BCS Cadre Association conducts tree plantation campaign

DHAKA, June 12, 2022 (BSS) - The 31st BCS Cadre Association has carried out a tree plantation programme at Dhaka College in the capital.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, this programme was arranged as part of mass tree plantation at all levels of educational institutions across the country.

On Friday (June 10) afternoon, forest, fruit and medicinal trees were planted in front of the main administrative building of Dhaka College, near the playground and on the pond.

Ahsan Habib Jitu (BCS Admin), Mahfujul Islam (BCS Information), shuvo Das (BCS Agricultur), kabir jewel (BCS Agriculture), Kiran shishir (BCS Railway), Nazmul Islam (BCS Tax), Ganesh Dhali (BCS Education), Md. Zakariya (BCS Customs), Taniya Hasin (BCS Education), Kamrul Islam (BCS Police), Sabuz Hawlader (BCS Family Planning), Masud Foysal (BCS Tax), Md Billal Hosain (BCS Customs), Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, organizing secretary of the 31st BCS Cadre Association and assistant professor of political science at Dhaka College, said the program is aimed at increasing green forestry across the country. Last year, 3,100 trees were planted across the country, he added.

Mrityunjay De Sajal, general secretary of the organization and ADC of DMP's Tenjgaon zone, said, "At present the environment is under threat as a result of massive deforestation across the country. Very little is being planted compared to the amount of trees being cut down. This is our initiative in preventing natural disasters and expecting a beautiful environment. It is our hope that other people across the country will also be inspired by this and take care of the trees".

This year, the 31st BCS Cadre Association plans to plant more than 5,000 trees, said its president Abdullah Al Hadi.

"We have started this activity in response to the Prime Minister's call for a fruit, forest and medicinal plantation," he said. After planting the trees, the concerned officials will keep an eye on them for regular supervision. Not only sound education but his alertness and dedication too are most required," he added.

Officers of different cadres of 31st BCS were present at that time.
