Lightening kills six in Mymensingh 

MYMENSINGH, June 17, 2022 (BSS) - Six people, including three children, were killed in separate lightening strikes in Nandail, Sadar and Dhobaura Upazilas of the district today.

Among the ill-fated people, three children died after they were struck by a thunderbolt at Kangkorhat village in Nandail Upazila of the district this noon. The deceased were identified as Syed, 12, Shadhin, 11, and Shaon, 8. All of them were residents of the village. 

Officer-in-Charge of Nandail Thana Mizanur Rahman said they were struck by thunderbolt while playing football in a field at the village. 

Besides, two men named Abu Bakkar, 40, and Jahangir Alam, 32, died as they were struck by lightning while catching fish in a Beel in Kushtia Balapara area under Mymensingh Sadar Upazila, said Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Thana Shah Kamal Akand. 

In another incident at Char Mohini village in Dhobaura Upazila, a man named Abu Syed, 30, was killed by lightning strike while he was catching fish in a beel during rainfall this morning. He died on way to Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex, said Officer-in-Charge of Dhobaura Thana Tipu Sultan.
