DHAKA, July 25, 2022 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today said the Election Commission (EC) will make its best efforts to hold a free and fair election.
He said political parties themselves will have to resolve their own political debates.
The CEC said election-time government, whichever it is, would extend cooperation to the EC and control of law enforcement agencies will be under the EC.
Awal was addressing the concluding speech while holding dialogue with Bangladesh Muslim League as part of the EC's ongoing talks with political parties.
A 13-member delegation of Bangladesh Muslim League led by its President Advocate Badruddoza Suja joined the dialogue while five election commissioners and high officials were also present.
Later, EC held talks with a nine-member delegation of Workers Party led by its general secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha.
The EC will hold dialogue with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh between 10.30am to 11.30am tomorrow, with Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh from 12noon to 1pm, Islami Andolan Bangladesh between 2.30pm to 3.30 pm, with National People's Party (NPP) from 4pm to 5pm.
