RANGPUR, July 26, 2022 (BSS) - Commerce Minister and heroic freedom fighter
Tipu Munshi, MP, today called for enhancing practice of Bengali literature
and culture to take the country forward by resisting the evil forces.
"There are still anti-liberation evil forces in this country. They can strike
at any time. Therefore, we have to move forward through the practice of
literature and culture to resist the evil forces," he said.
He was virtually addressing the inaugural function of the 'Two-day Literary
and Cultural Conference-2022' of poets, writers and literary personalities
and cultural activists of Rangpur at District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium
in the city as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan presided over the function being
organised by the district administration with colorful programmes under
management of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The programmes including screening of the cinema "Hasina: A Daughter's
Tale", recitation of poems, literary seminars on the past, present and future
of literature, culture and art of Rangpur district and the society with
literature in the past, present and future and cultural functions and
distribution of prizes.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Monirul Alam
inaugurated the conference by cutting the ribbon and releasing balloons as
special guest in the morning.
Deputy Director of Local Government Zilufa Sultana delivered a welcome
speech followed by screening of the film "Hasina: A Daughter's Tale",
recitation of poems and self-composed poems and cultural functions today.
The Commerce Minister said, "A nation can be destroyed, if its language and
culture were stricken. That is what the Pakistani regimes tried and once,
they stopped Rabindra Sangeet too."
Rangpur is an ancient district rich in history and tradition. Bhaoyaiya and
literature of Rangpur region are very rich. The conference is a very time-
befitting event.
"Poets and writers of Rangpur will get an opportunity in the conference to
present their literary works to the public and attract the next generations
to literature and culture and help the nation to move forward," he added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) of Rangpur Metropolitan
Police Abu Bakar Siddique, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali
Chowdhury, Awami League Central Committee Member Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa
Dalia and District Awami League President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed also spoke as
special guests.
