DHAKA, July 26, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said the government is implementing new programmes including iDEA project and establishing of Startup Bangladesh Company Limited for building up start-up culture in Bangladesh.
He was addressing, as the chief guest, the inaugural ceremony of a webinar titled “Startup Landscape in Bangladesh & India: Tech Startups Transforming the Future”.
Indian High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami joined it as the special guest.
A startup culture is a workplace environment that values creative problem solving, open communication and a flat hierarchy. A startup culture also promotes business agility and adaptability as being key virtues.
Palak said the effort of developing local start-up ecosystem is the foundation of newer innovations.
He said different institutions under ICT Division are providing different assistances for mentoring young entrepreneurs, their coaching, providing co-space at high tech parks as well as seed-money.
The state minister said it has been possible to attract over $300 million foreign investment in start-up sector including fintech, logistic and digital e-commerce in the last four years.
He said 39 high-tech parks, 64 Sheikh Kamal IT incubation centers, Sheikh Russel digital labs and Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology are being established to cope with the fourth industrial revolution.
He hoped such programme (webinar) will play an important role in building up start-up culture in Bangladesh and developing and flourishing this sector and it will further strengthen friendly ties between the two neighboring countries.
Later, he formally inaugurated the webinar.
Startup Bangladesh Company Limited Managing Director Tina F Jerin addressed the programme, among others.
