RANGPUR, Aug 20, 2022 (BSS) - Freedom fighters (FFs), professionals and civil society members have called for forming a commission to unmasks the plotters both at home and abroad behind assassination of Bangabandhu.
Talking to BSS recently, they stressed on bringing back fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for executing court's verdict against them.
Gallantry award winner heroic freedom fighter Shawkat Ali Sarker, Bir Bikram, said the anti-liberation forces are still hatching conspiracies to hinder advancement in the country when the nation is realizing Bangabandhu's dream of building Sonar Bangla.
He stressed on formation of a commission to probe into assassination of Bangabandhu to find out masterminds behind the carnage and make investigation report public so that the nation and world as a whole could know real history.
"Assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members was a deep-rooted conspiracy of the defeated anti-liberation forces of 1971 to reverse independence, sovereignty and spirit of the War of Liberation," Sarker added.
Former Commander of Rangpur district unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad (BMS) Mosaddek Hossain Bablu said Bangabandhu was assassinated at a time when he started restructuring the war-ravaged country.
"To make our national sovereignty safer, the government should form a commission as soon as possible to unmask all masterminds behind assassination of Bangabandhu before the whole nation," he said.
Former Kurigram district unit Commander of BMS Sirajul Islam Tuku said common people were stunned on August 15, 1975 listening radio broadcast about assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members by some unruly army men.
"The killers of Bangabandhu and their local and foreign conspirators wanted to reverse our hard-earned independence that we achieved by defeating the Pakistani Army and winning the War of Liberation," he said.
Although trial of the killers of Bangabandhu was completed and some of the killers were executed, but some others are still absconding and masterminds behind the assassination remaining unidentified.
"Formation of a high-powered commission has become crucial to investigate into assassination of Bangabandhu, the report should be made public and all masterminds and conspirators must be brought under justice," Islam added.
General Secretary of Rangpur district unit of Ghatok-Dalal Nirmul Committee Moazzem Hossain Lablu said the anti-liberation forces in collaboration with the masterminds hatched a conspiracy to assassinate Bangabandhu as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy.
"The government should form a commission to probe into Bangabandhu's assassination to unmasks of all masterminds and bring back fugitive killers of Bangabandhu for their quicker execution to free the nation from the stigma," Lablu said.
President of Rangapur Gobeshona Parishad Professor Mozammel Haque said the anti-liberation conspirators assassinated Bangabandhu, the most popular world leader of all times, stunning the nation and the whole world at dawn on August 15, 1975.
"The perpetrators wanted to bury the spirit of the War of Liberation aiming at reviving Pakistan by killing Bangabandhu and most of his family members," said Professor Haque, also a researcher and former Treasurer of Begum Rokeya University.
However, the nation has completed trial of the killers of Bangabandhu foiling all conspiracies, executed most of them and the process of bringing back absconding killers continues to execute them for freeing the country from the stigma.
"Without unmasking masterminds behind assassination of Bangabandhu, the nation will remain unknown about our true national history," Professor Haque said, and favored for formation of a stronger commission towards the direction.
President of Rangpur Chamber Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu said Bangladesh is now on the highway of development to build a Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu under the dynamic leadership of his able daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"If Bangabandhu was alive, Bangladesh would become a developed country long ago," he said, and stressed on formation of a commission to unmask masterminds behind Bangabandhu's assassination and free the nation from the stigma.
