DHAKA, August 21, 2022 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Anisul Huq today said Awami League is a party of people and they are
the strength of this party.
"Awami League formed government after winning elections in 2008, 2014 and
2018 through people's vote. God willing, we would form government after
winning next general election too through people's vote. We don't need to
rely on anything else for this," he said.
The minister said this while addressing as the chief guest at a discussion
and doa mahfil organised by the ministry marking "National Mourning Day and
47th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman".
Anisul said though many senior leaders of then East Pakistan colluded with
Pakistani Miliatry leaders, Bangabandhu never made any kind of compromise
with them.
"Pakistani military rulers used to fear Bangabandhu, they had logic behind
this fear. Bangabandhu always used to do systematic politics, he never
believed in guerrilla war, he never believed politics of conspiracy. He
believed in political movement taking his people along. He had strong
patriotism and deep love for his people," the law minister added.
"Even the Pakistani junta government did not dare to kill him, but we did it.
We can never get rid of this stigma," he further said.
Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Md Moinul Kabir, Law
and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, Inspector General of
Directorate of Registration Shahidul Alam Jhinuk, Acting Registrar General of
Supreme Court Md Golam Rabbani, Additional Secretary Hafiz Ahmed Chowdhury,
Joint Secretaries Umme Qulsum and Arifuzzaman and Deputy Secretaries Sheikh
Golam Mahbub and Gazi Kalimullah, addressed the discussion, among others.
Later, a special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed
souls of the martyrs of August 15, 1975 carnage.
