DU BCL for implementation of August 21 grenade attack verdicts 

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2022 (BSS) - Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Dhaka University unit today held a student rally demanding to bring the perpetrators of August 21, 2004 grenade attack, including Tarique Rahman, back home and implement the court verdicts. 

The leaders and activists of the organisation, led by BCL DU unit President Sonjit Chandra Das and General Secretary Hussain Saddam, staged the rally at 11:00 am today at the base of anti-terrorism Raju Memorial sculpture on Dhaka University campus. 

While addressing the rally as chief guest, BCL president Al Nahean Khan Joy said Ziaur Rahman was involved in the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on August 15 in 1975, while Tarique Rahman was involved in the grenade attack on August 1, 2004. 

Joy demanded of the government to bring the perpetrators of August 21, 2004 grenade attack, including the mastermind Tarique Rahman, back home and implement the court verdicts. 

BCL DU unit President Sonjit Chandra Das said the then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was directly and indirectly involved in the August 21, 2004 grenade attack. Following her instructions, all the symbols and signs were damaged immediately after the attack by the then Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation Sadek Hossain Khoka to let the criminal escape safely, he added.

DU BCL general secretary Hussain Saddam said BNP is hatching conspiracy after being rejected by the people as they are trying to create unrest in various universities. "However, we welcome the general students who are making resistance against such heinous activities by BNP activists at public universities." 

BCL leaders and activists of university's different hall unit joined the rally.
