35 distressed people get goats, students receive education materials

DHAKA, Sept 20, 2022 (BSS) - President of Bangladesh Police Women Welfare Association (PUNAK) Jissun Mirza has extended her support to underprivileged people and students in Lalmonirhat and Rangpur by giving goats and education materials respectively.

“A total of 35 distressed men and women received goats, rice, pulse, mustard oil, red chili, sarees, lungis, torchlight and seasonal vegetable seeds, while students got education materials from Punak president on Monday.

According to information received here today, the Punak president stood beside the underprivileged people and distributed food and goats among the underprivileged people at Begum Kamrunnesa Degree College auditorium in Lalmonirhat.

Punak president Jissun Mirza said Punak is an organization of women members of the Police force. “We should try to overcome the barriers in the working place for the welfare of common people. We have also provided clean drinking water in different parts of the country,” she said.

The Punak president said that cows and goats were distributed among the people to make them self-reliant; she said adding that “we have tried to stand by the side of the helpless people with our ability and such of these humanitarian activities of Punak will continue in the future.”

Later, she distributed one goat, rice, pulse, mustard oil, red chili, saree, lungi, torchlight and seasonal vegetable seeds to each of the 35 underprivileged men and women.

President of Lalmonirhat District Branch of Punak Umme Kulsoom chaired the programme, while Central Punak Social Welfare Secretary Touhida Islam, Treasurer Nafis Siddiqui, Production and Marketing Secretary Syeda Meher Afroz spoke.

Punak general secretary Khadiza Islam, Lalmonirhat District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Saiful Islam and other police officials were present.

She planted a Haribanga mango tree sapling on the bank of the Police Lines pond.
Later she visited the newly constructed Punak Complex in Rangpur and signed the visitor book.

DIG Rangpur Range Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rangpur Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Punak Rangpur Range President Jasmine Mahmud, Punak Rangpur District President Sonia Akhtar and other central and district leaders were present.
