RANGPUR, Oct 8, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League presidium member Shajahan Khan, MP, has said BNP is a spoiled political party.
"BNP does not want to do the politics of voting alongside not believing in democracy. BNP wants to come to power through conspiracies," he said.
Khan was addressing as the chief guest at the tri-annual conference of Aditmari upazila Awami League on Bhadai GS High School ground in Lalmonirhat district on Saturday evening.
Aditmari Upazila Awami League Acting President Rabiul Islam Manik presided over the conference.
Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, MP, Organizing Secretary of Central Awami League Sakhawat Hossain Shafik, executive committee members Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia and Advocate Safura Begum Rumi, Lalmonirhat District Awami League President Motahar Hossain, MP, General Secretary Advocate Motiar Rahman and Organizing Secretary Rakibuzzaman Ahmed, among others, spoke.
Shajahan Khan said since BNP has been out of power for a long time, they have gone mad today and that's why they are blabbering like madmen. They are slandering the Awami League, he added.
"And that is why the BNP are trying to mislead people by talking like mad. Remember that Awami League is the biggest and most popular party in the country and the tide of development is flowing in the country today," he said.
He said BNP burnt people, cars and houses with petrol bombs in the name of hartal. But the people did not let their strike succeed. BNP is still trying to create chaos in the country in the name of agitation.
"They (BNP) have no patriotism in mind, they prefer the politics of plunder. After coming to power, BNP established the anti-liberation Jamaat," he said.
"But, Awami League came to power and hanged those Jamaat leaders on the gallows and freed the nation from the stigma. BNP wants to come to power by killing Sheikh Hasina like Bangabandhu," he said.
Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said the BNP wants to destroy the democracy of this country.
In response to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's statement of 'People of Bangladesh are the burden of the government', he said, people are not the burden of the Awami League government, but they are its strength.
"Most people of Bangladesh love and support Sheikh Hasina. They want to bring Awami League to power again," he said and called upon the BNP to come to the election without talking much. Elections will be held according to the constitution," Ahamed added.
