DHAKA, Aug 1, 2021 (BSS) - Anil Sarkar, a valiant freedom fighter and father of general secretary of Dhaka University Unit Amra Muktijoddhar Santan, has died of COVID-19.

  He was 80.

  Anil Sarkar breathed his last at about 11 am on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) COVID-19 Dedicated Hospital.

  He left wife, five daughters, a son and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

  Anil was given a guard of honour by the Narsingdi district administration and his funeral was held at Nekjanpur village in Alokbali union of Sadar upazila on Saturday.

  Amra Muktijoddhar Santan central committee president Sajjad Hossain, presidium member Jobaida Haque Ajanta, general secretary Rasheduzzaman Shaheen, joint general secretaried Al-Amin Mridul, Azharul Islam Apu and Ahmad Russell and Sylhet district president Ataur Rahman expressed deep shock at the death of freedom fighter Anil Sarkar.
