DHAKA, Oct 13, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 100 more buses under Dhaka Nagar
Paribahan were launched today on two new routes.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the service in
the city's Basila.
Dhaka city mayors Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam were present on
the occasion.
A total of 50 buses will run on each route. One route is from Ghatarchar,
Keraniganj to Demra Staff Quarter (route-22) and another one is from
Ghatarchar to Kadamtali (route 26).
On route 22, buses will be operated from Ghatarchar to Demra Staff Quarter
via Washpur, Basila, Mohammadpur Town Hall, Asad Gate, Farmgate, Karwan
Bazar, Shahbagh, Kakrail, Fakirapool, Motijheel, Tikatuli, Sayedabad,
Jatrabari and Konapara.
Buses will be operated on route number 26 from Ghatarchar to Kadamtali via
Washpur, Basila, Mohammadpur Town Hall, Asad Gate, Kalabagan, Science Lab,
New Market, Azimpur, Palasi, Chankharpool, Mayor Hanif Flyover and Postogola.
Private operator Obhi Enterprise provided 50 brand new buses for the
Ghatarchar to Demra Staff Quarters route while state-run Bangladesh Road
Transport Corporation (BRTC) provided 50 buses for the other route.
On December 26 in 2021, Bus Route Rationalisation Committee introduced Dhaka
Nagar Paribahan bus service with 50 buses from Ghatarchar to Kanchpur Bridge
via Mohammadpur, Jigatala, Press Club, Motijheel and Jatrabari with a view to
bring discipline in public transport in the capital. BRTC provided 30 buses
and a private company gave 20 buses on that route.
Bus Route Rationalisation Committee President and Dhaka city south mayor
Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said from now new buses will be launched in Dhaka
under the Dhaka Nagar Paribahan service as there will no scope to launch old
buses.
Dhaka city north mayor Atiqul Islam said vehicles without root permit will
not be allowed to run in Dhaka and buses of a particular route won't be
allowed to run on another route.
