DHAKA, Oct 15, 2022 (BSS) – The Islamic spiritual hub of Maizbhandar Darbar has conferred three visiting Sufi scholars from Turkey, Morocco and the United States with “khilafat” or the authority of representing the centre as part of the birth anniversary celebration of great Sufi saint Syed Golamur Rahman, known as Baba Bhandari among the devotees.
“Maizbhandar Shareef is spreading the love of Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam) worldwide,” incumbent leader of the hub Syed Saifuddin Ahmed said after entrusting the three with authority of representation in a ritual coinciding with Baba Bhandari’s birthday celebration or “khoshroz sharif”.
They are: Dr Sheikh Mohammed Seyyid Elhuseyni of Turkey, Dr Sheikh Mohammed Lakhdar Derfoufi Al Hassani of Morocco and African-American Dr Sheikh Ahmed Tijani Ben Omar.
A spokesman of the Chattagram-based spiritual hub said the three foreign dignitaries belonged to Sufi orders of their own “but from now on they would also represent Maizbhandar abroad as in the higher realm of spirituality all orders mingle under one order”.
He said foreign Sufis joined alongside tens of thousands of devotees from across the country in celebrating the khoshroz, marked by a milad mahfil, Maizbhandari mystic songs, a discussion and special prayers.
They also paid tributes to shrines of Maizbhandar Darbar’s founder Syed Ahmadullah Al Hasani Maizbhandari, Baba Bhandari, Syed Abul Bashar and Syed Mainuddin Ahmed, who played a pivotal role in spreading the message of peace under the purview of the Darbar in global arena in recent past.
Maizbhandar Darbar in a statement said the new foreign representatives of the order expressed their heartiest desire to spread the message of 'Tariqa-e-Maizbhandia' worldwide with its essence being equality, interfaith harmony, peace and love for the Creator and His creations.
Chairing the discussion Syed Sifuddin Ahmed said the mankind needs to follow Holy Prophet (PBUH) to establish global peace and stability and ensure peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
“Showing respect to each other is crucially important . . . Hatred and dominating tendencies cannot bring peace,” he said while his son Syed Mashuk-e-Mainuddin delivered the welcome speech.
Mohammad Shakhwat Hossain Barakati from India joined the event as a special speaker.
