RAJSHAHI, Oct 20, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League Presidium Member and Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has taken a decision of bearing all studentship costs, including accommodation, food and tuition, of poor a student of Rajshahi University (RU).
 
Mayor Liton came to know about the needy condition of Imran Hossain, a newly-admitted student in the Department of English Literature of RU, from an online news portal last night.
 
Imran Hossain, son of Abdur Rashid, a resident of Ward No-9 in Kuakata municipality of Patuakhali district, is a construction worker by profession.
 
Subsequently, Liton asked his personal assistant to collect detailed information about the student.
 
On behalf of Mayor Liton, the student was contacted and conveyed the message over the phone this noon.
 
"I was very anxious about my study in RU due to our financial constraints. At present, Mayor Sir's benevolent initiative has freed me from anxiety," said Imran Hossain expressing his gratitude to Mayor Liton.
 
 After passing HSC from Kuakata Khanabad Degree College, he got admission to RU for the 2021-2022 academic year and his academic classes will begin on November 1 next.
