DHAKA, Nov 1, 2022 (BSS) - Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said the government will procure around three lakh metric tonnes of Aman paddy and five lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice this year.

The minister disclosed this responding to a query from journalists after attending a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee held in the cabinet room of the secretariat here.

As the government has fixed the target and price of the items, the Aman paddy will be procured at Taka 28 per kilogram (kg) while rice at Tk 42 per kg, he added.

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Health Minister Zahid Maleque and State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman were present, among others, on the occasion.
