Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (amendment) Bill 2022 passed in JS

DHAKA, Nov 1, 2022 (BSS) - A bill titled Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (Amendment) Bill 2022 was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad today unanimously aimed at facilitating peaceful use of nuclear power, its advancement and expansion and carrying out research works in line with the international convention.

The House, with Deputy speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku in the chair, passed the bill through voice-votes as Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman piloted the bill for passage.

Placing the bill, the minister said the bill will be enacted as law through repealing the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Bill 2017.

According to the bill, there are two deputy-secretary ranked posts - finance advisor and secretary - in the commission to be posted by public administration ministry.

As per the Cabinet Division directives issued on October 23, 2019, if there is any post called assistant secretary, deputy secretary, additional secretary and secretary in any office under any ministry or division, that name of the post has to be changed.

The amendment stated that the post of secretary will be named as working executive (administration ) while finance advisor will be named as working executive (finance).
