Trouble-mongers will be dealt with an iron hand: CTTC Chief

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2021 (BSS) – Militants, perpetrators, plotters, rumour spreaders, troublemakers and religious fanatics, who will be involved in creating panic and anarchy in the country, would be dealt with an iron hand.

“Stern actions will be taken if anyone tries to create anarchy anywhere of the country,” Chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), a specialized unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Md Asaduzzaman told BSS here today.

Following the ‘zero tolerance’ policy of the government against militancy and terrorism, the law enforcement agencies have been working sincerely to deal with the extremists, militants and other criminals, he said.

The CTTC chief said the government has been dealing all sorts of terrorism, militancy and criminal activities with an iron hand in order to ensure peace and harmony in the society.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is committed to establish Bangladesh as a safe haven for the common people by combating terrorism, militancy and heinous activities from the country," Asaduzzaman added.

He said, by applying smart approach and through incessant operations, the CTTC has dismantled militant’s network, adding that it has taken a tough stance against terrorism and a coordinated step like hard and soft ‘Smart Approaches’ against militants.

He alleged that a vested quarter has been trying to hatch conspiracy in the name of IS militants to destabilise the country by killing people. “There is no existence of Islamic State (IS) in Bangladesh,” he added.

The government will never allow any sort of criminals like IS to operate activities in the country, the CTTC chief said.

He said people of all religions are living in Bangladesh peacefully, as the country, under the bold and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is running smoothly with the vision to become a developed state by 2041.

“The law enforcement agencies have been destroying the militants’ dens and their networks across the country and now police and intelligence agencies are on high alert to deal with any untoward situation for safety and security of the people ahead and after the National Mourning Day,” Asaduzzaman said.

He sounded a note of warning against the militants, terrorists and fanatics, saying the government will never allow any sort of criminal activities in the country and urged all to dial 999 for helping the law enforcement agencies.

The CTTC chief said necessary measures have already been taken to create awareness across the country through educational institutions and Imams of mosques while law enforcement agencies have been working to identify the rumour-mongers and those who are involved in antisocial activities through social media as well as other electronic devices.
