RAJSHAHI, Nov 16, 2022 (BSS) - Habibur Rahman, an eminent marine law expert and former Professor of Rajshahi University (RU), died at his residence at Kazla in the city last night.
He had been suffering from various old-age complications and breathed his last around 11 pm. He was 76.
Rahman left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a large number of students, academic colleagues, relatives and admirers to mourn his death, a RU release said this noon.
During his long academic career in the Department of Law from 1973 to 2013, Prof Habibur Rahman supervised many PhD, M. Phil and post-graduation research papers.
Besides, he has a remarkable number of research papers and books at home and abroad to his credit.
Prof Rahman obtained a PhD degree on marine law from Madras University in India and completed postdoctoral research in Max Planck Institute in Germany.
Meanwhile, RU Vice-chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar and Pro-VCs Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam and Prof Humayun Kabir expressed their deep shock and sorrow at the death of Prof Rahman.
They also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
