RAJSHAHI, Dec 3, 2022 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton today said the people rejected the BNP rally in Rajshahi as they have trust and confidence in the present government.

"People always support development and the present government has been working for the wellbeing of the people," he added.

Addressing a protest rally held at the city unit office of Bangladesh Awami League, Mayor Liton termed the BNP rally as an obstruction to hamper the government's massive development activities.

"BNP held the rally here today as part of its anti-nation conspiracy besides obstructing the government's development activities. BNP has been hatching deep-rooted conspiracies to destabilize the country," he added.

Liton, who is also the presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League, mentioned that BNP never wants development of the country and the party doesn't believe in democracy.
 
He said the BNP leaders spread false, fabricated and baseless information in the rally which are detrimental to the country's continuous progress.
 
Liton said the present government under the prudent and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been taking the country forward.
 
He mentioned that the BNP has been holding rallies and other meetings throughout the country smoothly as the present government believes in democracy.
 
Among others, City unit president Muhammad Ali Kamal, General Secretary Dablu Sarker, central executive member Begum Akhter Jahan and many other front-ranking leaders were present at the meeting.
