DHAKA, Dec 9, 2022 (BSS) - Police overnight detained BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and another leader Mirza Abbas from their residences in the city.

 "The DB (detective branch) police have detained Mr Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his Uttara residence at 3.15am on Friday," Uttara (east) police station's officer-in-charge M Jahirul Islam said.

Without elaboration, he said, Alamgir was facing some charges.

A BNP spokesman, meanwhile, said party's standing committee member Mirza Abbas was detained as well in early hours of today from his Shahjahanpur residence.
