DHAKA, Dec 11, 2022 (BSS) - Kabir Bin Anwar, appointed as new cabinet secretary today, is a career civil servant and a cadre of BCS 7th batch.
He started his career as an Assistant Commissioner on February 15, 1988.
During his 34-year career, Anwar served the government in various capacities as he held important responsibilities both in the field administration as well as in policy level. Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Upazila Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer were among the important posts in the field administration.
Moreover, he worked as an Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as First Secretary in Bangladesh Embassy in the Netherlands, as a Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Deputy Secretary as Director (Administration) to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Additional Secretary as the Director General (Administration) to the PMO. Since 2018, Anwar has been serving as Senior Secretary to the government in the Ministry of Water Resources.
Born in Sirajganj on January 4, 1964, Kabir Bin Anwar completed his post graduation in Political Science from the University of Dhaka. He also studied in Residential Model School and College and Dhaka College.
He achieved various awards home and abroad for his outstanding performance in public welfare and related activities during his service.
He received Public Administration Award in 2016 and 2018 and Open Group Award in 2017. Institutionally, Anwar was awarded the Digital Bangladesh Medal in 2021 and the Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal in 2022 while serving as the senior secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources.
Kabir Bin Anwar, actively involved in many socio-organizational activities, represents Bangladesh in various international forums.
His father Anwar Hossain, a freedom fighter and a businessman by profession, was actively involved in many socio-organizational activities. Anwar's mother Sayada Isabela was an active organizer of the historic event of the War of Liberation.
His maternal grandfather Syed Ishaq Hossain Siraji was a lawyer, who was the brother, teacher and musician of the renowned Bengali writer and poet Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji.
Kabir Bin Anwar's spouse name is Toufika Kabir and they are blessed by one son and two daughters.
