Samageet Sangskriti Prangon demands ensuring rights, safety, dignity of people

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2024 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion meeting here today urged the interim government to ensure the rights, safety and dignity of the people of all castes, religions and genders of the country.

Participation of people of all castes, religions and genders will have to be ensured in building the new Bangladesh, they said, adding that culture of all from plain land to hilly regions will also have to be preserved.     

Freedom of expression should be ensured for all, they said while speaking at the discussion, organized by cultural organization Samageet Sangskriti Prangon at Drikpath Bhaban in the city’s Panthapath.

Journalist and writer Nurul Kabir said there were signs of fascism in the Awami League government as it had a plan to stay in power permanently.

He said a new state must be established to consolidate the victory of the students-people’s movement.

Artiste Arup Rahi said crisis in the country has not been solved as the shrines, temples are being attacked and people are being beaten to death, which must be stopped.    

Singer Amal Akash said cultural practices will have to be carried out across the country and those who would try to create obstacle will be resisted at any cost.

General Secretary of the organization Bithi Ghosh gave a welcome speech and Tofazzal Hossain conducted it.
