PABNA, June 11, 2024 (BSS) - President Mohammed Shahabuddin today asked the business leaders to take care so that no profiteer can intensify people’s suffering through unethical activities.
“Be aware of the profiteers who want to do unethical business . . . by intensifying sufferings of the people,” he told the local business leaders here.
The Head of the State was addressing a view-exchange-meeting with the representatives of the Pabna Chamber of Commerce at the local Circuit House today, the third day of his four-day visit to his hometown Pabna.
President Shahabuddin said, "The government will always remain beside the businessmen, if they (businessmen) do business in compliance with rules and regulations. . . The government usually takes businessmen's advice in formulating trade and investment policies here."
The businessmen will conduct their activities in accordance with the rules and regulations, he hoped.
The President mentioned that the whole world faced economic recession due to the Covid-19 and the wars of Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine.
But, the President said, the Bangladesh economy is functioning positively because of the timely and bold decisions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government and the cooperation of businessmen as well.
President Shahabuddin expected full cooperation from the businessmen in implementing the proposed budget of Taka 7.97 lakh crore for the Fiscal Year 2024-25.
He highlighted Pabna’s heritage and commercial potentials of various sectors including agriculture and industry.
The President called upon the business leaders to utilize the existing possibilities, take effective steps to create jobs and entrepreneurship.
During the meeting, President Shahabuddin was apprised by Pabna Chamber President Saiful Alam Swapon Chowdhury of various issues related to their activities and Pabna's trade and commerce.
Secretaries to the President's Office were present there.
President Sahabuddin reached his hometown Pabna on a four-day visit on Sunday. This is his forth visit here after assuming office of the President.
He is scheduled to return to Dhaka by helicopter from Pabna on June 12 at 11:40 am.
