DHAKA, July 23, 2022 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Communication
Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak today laid the foundation stone of 'Natore
IT/Hi-Tech Park' in Singra upazila of Natore.
"Hi-tech parks would play an important role in building a smart Bangladesh
and turning it into a knowledge-based developed economy from a labour-dependent
one," Palak said,
He said this while laying the foundation stone of a Hi-Tech Park in Singra
upazila of the district.
This hi-tech park is being built in Sherkol Mauza of Singra upazila at a cost
of Taka 190 crore on about nine acres of land under the district level Hi-
tech park establishment project funded by India.
The construction of the park would be completed within the next two years,
said a press release.
It is expected that about 1,000 youths would receive training every year and
direct employment opportunities will be created for 3,000 youths, it added.
Among others, Information and Communication Technology Department Senior
Secretary NM Ziaul Alam, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar
Doraiswamy, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Dr Bikarna
Kumar Ghosh were present, among others.
Palak said that this hi-tech park will turn Natore into a technology-rich
district.
The junior minister also unveiled the plaque of a modern Cineplex and a
dormitory building there.
Doraiswamy said that the IT Park would play a helpful role in creating a
high-tech knowledge manpower.
He also said that Bangladesh and India have been bound by common history,
literature, culture and tradition since the beginning of bilateral relations.
He expressed optimism that this bond would be stronger in the coming days.
Later, saplings were planted in the courtyard of the park.
