DHAKA, Sept 25, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today called upon the BNP to join the parliamentary elections shunning the path of ill politics, arson terrorism and sabotage and conspiracy against continuation of democratic values.
"If BNP carries out sabotage acts in the name of political programme, they will be dealt accordingly," he told a development and peace rally of AL's Dhaka city north at Uttara in the capital this afternoon.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said the national elections will not be held giving importance on any sanctions or anyone's directions.
Noting that Bangladesh doesn't care any country's visa policy or sanctions, the minister said democracy is not flawless in the country which issue visa policy or sanctions and violation of human rights are also taking place there but they can't do anything.
He said, elections will be held in Bangladesh as per its conditional provisions. "We only care our people who are the main strength of Awami League," he said.
Addressing BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Quader noted that former US ambassador in Dhaka James F Moriarty gave sanctions had sent a mail to US State Department to deny entry of Tarique Rahman, BNP's acting chairman, terming him as a symbol of "kleptrocratic government and violent politician guilty of egregious political corruption that has had a serious adverse effect on US national interest".
AL's Dhaka city north president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman chaired the rally while AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam, City North AL General Secretary SM Mannan Kachi and Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil spoke.
