DHAKA, Oct 9, 2023 (BSS)- Leaders of Chalachithra Pradarshak Samity today extended thanks to Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and his ministry for releasing the much-awaited biopic on Bangabandhu ‘Mujib- The Making of a Nation’ in country’s cinema halls.

The leaders of the samity today congratulated him by presenting a bouquet of flowers at his secretariat office here.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker was present.

Chief advisor of the Samity Sudipta Kumar Das said, “We thanked the information minister and his ministry for taking decision of releasing the long-awaited biopic on Bangabandhu. The present generation, who didn’t see the Liberation War, repression of Pakistani occupation forces, razakars and anti liberation forces, would be able to know the truth from the movie, he said.

Samity leaders Amir Hamza, Abdul Matin Pradhan, Chand Mia, Billal Hossain and Masud Parvez, among others, were present.

In his speech, Dr Hasan said, “I would like to extend my gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she has monitored every step from the very beginning of making the biopic. She also gave advices. The Premier gave directives though Shyam Benegal was the director. She was the chief advisor of script writer though Atul Tiwari wrote the script. And this is the reality.”

He said the biopic will be a document of the history. The movie revealed how Bangabandhu became Sheikh Mujib from ‘Khoka’, how Sheikh Mujib became Bangabandhu and how Bangabandhu became Father of the Nation. The full Indian team will come here tomorrow, he added.

The movie will be released in about 200 cinema halls in the country at a time, the minister said urging everybody to enjoy the movie in cinema hall.

After the function, the information minister replies queries of reporters.

About the next poll, Hasan Mahmud, also Awami League joint general secretary, said BNP has been telling that they would not take part in election under this government. They had told it before the 2018 poll, but later they had participated in the election, he said.

“I hope that BNP will take part in the next election also. People’s participation in the election is more important than participation of a particular political party,” he said.

Dr Hasan said, the next election will be held on time maintaining international standard whether BNP and its allies take part or not. We want BNP to take part in the poll. For this we are urging them again and again.”

As per the constitution, the minister said, there is no power of the poll-time government. Even the government cannot transfer a constable or any government employee, he said.

“In fact, BNP has no faith in the country, society and the state,” he said adding that “for this, Mirza Fakhrul has claimed that “Pakistan regime was better.”
 
About Begum Khaldea Zia’s health issue, Dr Hasan prayed for her early recovery.

In the past, he said, BNP leaders and medical team had claimed that Khaleda Zia’ life was at stake. But with the grace of the almighty and treatment of the country’s best doctors, she recovered and returned home.

He said the government is very sincere to ensure highest health service for her extending all out cooperation. Begum Zia is getting treatment in a hospital as she desired, and it’s one of the best hospitals in the country. They also can call in doctors from abroad if needed, he added.
