DHAKA, Feb 29, 2024 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP-Jamaat has taken the side of Tel Aviv by keeping mum on genocide in Gaza, Palestine, committed by Israel.
“Until today, BNP-Jamaat has not uttered a single word against Israeli massacres in Gaza, Palestine. They have stood in favor of this genocide through their silence,” he said.
The foreign minister was speaking at a rally and human chain in demand for stopping killing women and children in Palestine, organised by Bangabandhu Sanskritik Jot in front of the central Shaheed Minar in the capital at noon.
Referring to the local politics, Hasan Mahmud said, BNP-Jamaat did not say anything against the Israeli killings, instead, they copied the act of Israeli forces and committed violence here, including vandalizing of the police hospital.
“The Jamaat wants to establish Islam, doesn’t it? Then, why they are yet to say a single word (against Israel) ? How are they showing their face now? They extended their hands to Israel by remaining silent,” he said.
The foreign minister said he is going to Saudi Arabia to attend OIC conference there from March 4 to 5.
“Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed me to talk in favor of Palestine at the OIC conference,” he added.
Bangabandhu Shanskritik Jot vice president Dr Arup Ratan Chowdhury presided over the rally while its General Secretary Arun Sarkar Rana, Awami League National Committee member Balram Poddar and former Dhaka South Mohanagar Awami League General Secretary Shah Alam Murad also spoke, among others.
