Govt. plans to reform more sectors: Nahid

LAXMIPUR, Sept 20, 2024 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Advisor of the Interim government M Nahid Islam here today said the government has a plan to bring more sectors, including education and mass media, under reform programme.

“As part of the ‘state reform programme’, six committees have been formed and meeting of those committees have already been held. The reform committees will begin their work from October”, he said.

Nahid said this while distributing food assistance among the flood affected people at Bangakha High School and Jadiya Fazil Madrasha premises after visiting two flood affected unions of Sadar upazila.

The commission will prepare the outline of the reform through discussion with the concerned officials and experts; he said adding reform would begin according to their recommendations.

Nahid Islam further said the trial of the fascists will be held on the soil of this country. “Magistracy power has been given to the army and we hope that as a result the law and order will improve soon,” he said.

The advisor said the government would undertake programme for rehabilitation of the flood affected people within quickest possible time.

Nahid said flood water of Laxmipur is receding slowly as the canals of the district are occupied by the encroachers. People are returning back to their homes after receding flood water, he said.

Nahid said steps would be taken to free all canals of the district from illegal encroachment. The government has already disbursed fund for reconstruction of homes destroyed in flood, he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Laxmipur Rajib Kumar Sarker and other local high officials were present.
