DHAKA, Oct 08, 2024 (BSS) - The government has appointed Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid as new cabinet secretary on a contractual basis.
His two-year service will be counted from October 14 or the day of his joining.
The Ministry of Public Administration today issued a gazette notification, signed by senior assistant secretary Nilufa Yesmin, over the contractual appointment of Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid.
“Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid has been appointed on a two-year contract from October 14 or date of joining, which is conditional upon his resignation from any other professional affiliations or organizations including government, semi-government and private offices/organizations,” said the notification.
Other conditions of the appointment will be finalized through agreement, the gazette notification said, adding that the order was issued on published interest.
Earlier, the government appointed retired additional secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid as secretary for the Secondary and Higher Education Division on August 17, 2024 on contractual basis for two years.
As 25th cabinet secretary of the country, Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid will replace Mahbub Hossain, who was joined as the cabinet secretary on January 3, 2023.
Dr Rashid was born in a Muslim family in Satkhira district.
