DHAKA, Oct 29, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman stressed on removing the beneficiaries of the fallen autocratic regime from the important positions of the state immediately.
"We all agreed that it is not easy for the interim government to achieve the desired goals by keeping the beneficiaries of the fallen dictator and mafia regime in various important positions of the state,” he said
Tarique Rahman was addressing virtually as the chief guest a view-exchange meeting with Hindu community members following the celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja at Ladies Club in the capital’s Eskaton this evening.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the event, organized by Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad.
BNP National Standing Committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain also spoke on the occasion, among others.
Tarique Rahman said the fallen defeated forces created communal situation in the country and tried to shift the blame on others for gaining their own interests.
But they did not prosecute even a single incident of torture on the Hindu community across the country, he added.
He said in the last 15 years during the fascist regime, security of wrongdoers was ensured but devotees of different religions were kept in worry and anxiety.
The BNP acting chairman said following the dictator's fleeing through the mass uprising led by students on August 5 this year, people of all religions, including Muslims and Hindus, are now free from the fear of "Aynaghar".
He urged all to remain alert regardless of religion so that the cohorts of the fugitive dictator cannot hatch any conspiracy by capitalizing on the interests of different religious groups or using them or using any religion.
Mentioning that the pro-Bangladesh forces are united today to build a country and society where people of all religious faiths can celebrate their respective religions safely in the future, Tarique Rahman said, religion belongs to individuals but the right of getting security is of all.
He said the interim government has already formed various reform commissions to repair the fragile state left by the mafia government.
Completing the ongoing reforms programme after removing the garbage of 15 years is a huge undertaking, he said.
"However, it is important to note one thing, if the daily suffering of the people cannot be alleviated while carrying out this huge work, if the matter of ensuring the economic and political empowerment of the people is neglected, the reforms programme of the interim government will face question!" said the BNP acting chairman.
As a result, it is very important to make the activities of this government priority-based and agenda-oriented, he noted.
He said the defeated evil forces and their cohorts in the public administration are hatching conspiracies in various ways to frustrate the current interim government.
"For this reason, even though each political party has different programmes, we all including the BNP agree on one thing that it is not easy for the interim government to achieve the goals by keeping the beneficiaries of the mafia government in various important positions in the state."
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, 'A new possibility that was created in Bangladesh after the Liberation War in 1971, it is unfortunate but true, that possibility could not be utilized."
'Now after August 5, a new possibility has come, he said, urging all to build a non-communal Bangladesh as dreamt by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
He said that the fallen power is inciting the people in various ways.
He urged all not to fall into the trap of this incitement.
"Let us all work together to build a new Bangladesh," he said.
BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said people want to live in peace putting belief in nationalism.
"After the mass uprising of students on August 5, a positive situation has been created. Let us form a united and welfare state," he added.
Earlier, people were not habituated to guarding Mandir (temple) during offering Puja, said BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, adding that all the people who have been caught with the vandalism of the temple belong to Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League.
Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan said "Goddess Durga comes every year to establish justice and truth. Asur (monster) escaped from this country on August 5. The truth has won."
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, "We want to build a rainbow nation and this is a reflection of BNP's philosophy and thinking."
Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain said that everyone is equal in BNP irrespective of caste and religion as this is Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman's party.
