DHAKA, Jan 5, 2025 (BSS) – A group of students who were injured during the anti-discrimination students-people movement today strongly condemned and protested the attack on them at a programme at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The incident took place when the injured students-people participated in the ‘Nagorik Samabesh’ organized by Jatiya Biplobi Parishad at the Central Shaheed Minar yesterday.
Speaking at a press conference at National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, Md. Abir Ahmed Sharif, who was injured in the anti-discrimination students-people movement, said the injured students who are now undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital joined the Shaheed Minar rally at the invitation of Jatiya Biplobi Parishad.
During the rally, attacks were launched on them when they protested remarks of leader of Jatiyas Gano Adhikar Parishad Md Faroque Hasan against the interim government, he added.
Injured students Md. Saiful Islam, Abdur Rahman and Korban Sheikh Hillul, among others, were present at the press conference.
Md. Abir Ahmed said students-people are not workers of any political party as they carried out movement against the dictatorial Sheikh Hasina government for the country if anyone tries misguided it, they will be resisted at cost.
He hoped that the interim government will work for the welfare country and its people. He sought assistance and cooperation for the inured students who are now undergoing threat in different hospital across the country.
