Odhikar for justice of killings Bangladeshis  in border  

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - President of the human rights organization Odhikar Dr. C R Abrar today demanded immediate justice to all incidents of killings and repressions of Bangladeshi people including the murder of Felani by Indian Border Security Force (BSF). 

“We want justice of all killings and tortures in bordering areas persecuted   by India and immediate stop of such heinous acts,” he said while speaking at a rally, organized by Odhikar in capital’s Central Shaheed Minar.

He also demanded fair investigation into all   killings and tortures of Bangladeshi people by BSF during the tenure of the deposed Awami League (AL) government. 

Senior researcher of Odhikar Taskin Fahmina, Jatiya Gonofront chief coordinator Tipu Biswas, chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon Zonayed Saki, Chairman of Bangladesh Labour Party Mustafizur Rahman Iran, Gono Odhikar Parishad general secretary Rashed Khan, Jatiya Nagorik Committee member secretary Akhtar Hossain, father of Felani Nurul Islam, coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Students Movement Tariqul Islam, among others, spoke in the rally.  

Director of Odhikar Nasiruddin Elan conducted it.

Abrar said a broad based discussion is immediately required with Indian government to stop killings and inhuman tortures of the Bangladeshi people by BSF. 

Senior researcher of Odhikar Taskin Fahmina disclosed that a total of 588 Bangladeshis were killed in bordering areas in the last 15 years from 2009-2024.
 
“We want immediate trial of the killings,” she said.  
Zonayed Saki said Bangladesh had not achieved the independence to stay in anyone’s pocket.
“Being a close neighbouring state   India should maintain dignified relations with Bangladesh,’’  he said . 

He stressed the need for a government of all irrespective of political parties and opinions to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty.

Nurul Islam, father of Felani, who was hung   after killing by Indian BSF said , “I want exemplary trial of the Felani killing to top recurrence of  such brutal murder in future.”
