DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025(BSS) – Under the directives of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, separate operations have been recently carried out in Gazipur and Tangail to recover forestland and demolish illegal brick kilns.
In the Bhabanipur Beat of Bhawal Range, Gazipur, 4.05 acres of reserved forestland were recovered by removing illegal structures, a press release of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change said today.
A total of 13 unauthorized houses and a boundary wall were demolished during the operation.
The Forest Department, district administration, and joint forces participated in the successful operation.
Meanwhile, in Mirzapur, Tangail, seven illegal brick kilns were demolished.
The operation, which began on Thursday morning and continued till 2:30 PM, targeted areas in Bahuria, Baimail, and Paharpur.
The chimneys of Bata Bricks, New Sarkar Bricks, Haque Bricks, New Romiz Bricks, B&B Bricks, Sony Bricks, and Ran Bricks were permanently dismantled.
Executive Magistrate of the Department of Environment Abdullah Al Mamun led the operation while Additional District Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun of Tangail, Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Rakibul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mirzapur Masudur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment Miah Mahmudul Haque, Assistant Director Sajib Kumar Ghosh, and other officials concerned were present.
