DHAKA, Jan 18, 2025 (BSS) - Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Amir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim today demanded of the Interim Government to recruit religious teachers in all primary and secondary schools, and nationalize education system, including independent Ebtedayi Madrasas of the country.
Rezaul Karim, also Charmonai Pir, came up with a series of demands while addressing the ‘Central Council 2025’ of the ‘National Teachers Forum’ at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium here today.
He urged the incumbent government to ensure mandatory appointment of religious teachers in primary and secondary schools so that every Muslim child can acquire religious education as per the decree of the Almighty Allah.
“It is a sad thing for us that Bangladesh has become the champion in corruption for five times . . . We want to unite and seek all-out cooperation of the countrymen to build a beautiful country,” the Charmonai Pir added.
IAB Amir also expressed his solidarity with the charter of a-15-point demand of the teachers. The demands also includes: eliminating inequality in the field of education, all MPO-listed educational institutions including independent Ebtedayi Madrasas like primary schools should be nationalized, allocating of at least 5.5% of GDP to the education sector, making Islamic education mandatory, ensuring exemplary punishment to those dishonest officials and beneficiaries collaborated with the fallen fascist government in implementing the previous curriculum and syllabus, avoiding all irrelevant pictures, offensive language of sex education, un-Islamic topics and dangerous aspects from primary and high school textbooks as well as inclusion of madrasa students and teachers in the history of the July-August Movement and forming “Education Reform Commission” with Islamic scholars.
National Teachers Forum president Professor Nasir Uddin Khan, secretary general lecturer Abdus Sabur, IAB senior presidium member Principal Maulana Syed Mosaddek Billah Al-Madani, IAB secretary general Principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Mokamiya Darbar Pir Maulana Mahmudul Hasan Ferdous, IAB presidium member Professor Ashraf Ali Akon, Dhaka University teachers - Prof Mahbubur Rahman, Dr. Ariful Islam Apu and Dr. Kamrul Ahsan - Chittagong University teacher Dr. Shahidul Haque and Jagannath University’s associate professor Dr. Abdul Momin, among others, also spoke there.
Subsequently, the IAB Amir dissolved the committee for the 2023-24 session and announced a new committee for the 2025-2026 session with Professor Nasir Uddin Khan as president and lecturer Abdus Sabur as secretary general.
