CHATTOGRAM, Jan 22, 2025 (BSS) – A Court today placed former lawmaker of Chattogram-15 constituency Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nadvi on a four-day remand.
Nadvi was taken in remand in two days each in two separate cases filed for explosive act in Lohagara and Satkania police stations.
Senior Judicial Magistrate of Chattogram Muminunnesa Khanam issued the remand order as police produced Nadvi before the court and pleaded for 6-day remand, in each case for 3-day, Habibur Rahman, Chattogram district court inspector confirmed.
Former lawmaker Nadvi was taken in the court from the jail around 9.00am today.
Earlier, on December 15, Dhaka Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Nadvi from Uttara area. He was placed on one-day remand on the next day in a case filed for killing ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the July-August movement in 2024.
A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman issued the remand order as police produced Nadvi before the court and pleaded for 10-day remand.
The court also issued order to send him jail after completion one-day remand on December 17, 2024.
Saifullah was killed during student-people uprising in Azimpur Government Residential area on July 18.
Kamrul Hasan, father of Saifullah, filed the case with Lalbag police on August 19 in which 52 AL men including ousted Sheikh Hasina were accused.
On December 15, the court also banned from leaving the country following the petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Former lawmaker Nadvi was the chairman of Allama Fazlullah Foundation and a professor of International Islamic University of Chattogram.
