Salman F Rahman, 3 others remanded in different cases

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed four people, including Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on different terms of remand in cases filed over crimes committed during the student-led July-August mass uprising.

The three other remanded accused are - former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former acting mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Md Asadur Rahman Kiron and general secretary of Dhaka University (DU) unit of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Tanvir Hasan Soikat.

Of the four, Salman F Rahman and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were placed on three-day remand each in Asif murder case filed with the Mirpur Model Police Station. Former acting mayor of GCC Md Asadur Rahman Kiron was placed on four-day remand in a case lodged with the Uttara West Police Station over attempt to murder one Mamun, while BCL leader Soikat was placed on a four-day remand in Riaj murder case filed with the Dhanmandi Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the orders this morning.

Salman F Rahman was arrested from the capital's Sadarghat area as he was trying to flee the capital along with former law minister Anisul Huq through the waterways on August 13, 2024. He was placed on a 10-day remand in shopkeeper Shahjahan Ali murder case the next day.
