DHAKA, Jan 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Housing and Public Works Minister Sharif Ahmed and former Member of Parliament (MP) of Mymensingh-2 constituency for allegedly amassing assets by abusing power.
ACC Director General (Prevention) M Akhtar Hossian told journalists today.
By abusing power, he illegally acquired moveable and immovable assets worth about Taka 3 crore, 83 lakh, 50 thousand while he did suspicious transactions and conversion Tk 42 crore, 68 lakh, 81 thousand and 816 which inconsistent with his known sources of income, he said.
A case has been filed today under the ACC Act.
Besides, the ACC said relatives of Sharif Ahmed, including wife Shefali Begum, father-in-law Ghulam Mostafa, mother-in-law Jahanara Begum, brothers-in-law Md Shah Alam and Mohammad Shameem earned huge amount of money through corrupt practices.
The ACC, however, recommended issuance of notice for filing a separate wealth statement.
