TANGAIL, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku today said that the fascist Awami League (AL)-led government snatched the people's right to vote during its 15-year misrule.
"The government led by Hasina has taken away the people's right to vote. When the people are not valued in a country, the government turns into a dictatorship," he said while addressing the award distribution ceremony and pitha festival at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park in the district town as the chief guest.
Noting that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has announced a 31-point reform outline for the country, Tuku expressed hope that Bangladesh will embark on a journey towards development and prosperity through its implementation.
Former District BNP Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu and District Jubo Dal Convener Khandaker Rashedul Alam, among others, also spoke at the event.
Earlier in the morning, Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the day-long pitha festival.
During the festival, 30 meritorious students who secured admission to various cadet colleges across the country were taken on a helicopter ride.
