COX’S BAZAR, Feb 8, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has today emphasized on putting the first priority on holding the trial of the 2024 mass killing.
“The trial of 2024 mass killing must be held first, and then other works. Otherwise, it will be a betrayal to the blood of the martyrs,” he said.
Jamaat Amir was addressing a workers’ conference of Cox’s Bazar district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami at the Cox’s Bazar Government College ground here today.
Jamaat Ameer said, taking extortion still exists as before. Whoever is involved with this bad practice must be stopped. There is no relation between the politics and taking money illegally,” he said.
Noting that Jamaat is the most oppressed party in Bangladesh, Shafiqur Rahman said, “We have not get back our registration yet.
Jamaat is the only party which registration has been revoked. The party has been banned as it wants to implement the law of Allah, he said.
Claiming that no misdeed could touch Jamaat-e-Islami in the last 54 years since the country’s independence, he said every party that has come to power in the past has indulged them in corruption and looting.
“But there is no such allegation against anyone of Jamaat,” he said.
Urging the party leaders and workers to remain alert against any conspiracy, he said, “We will not allow anyone to harm people or respond to any provocation.
The fugitive former police IGP Benazir is now hatching conspiracy from abroad, he said.
Cox’s Bazar District Jamaat Amir Principal Nur Ahmad Anwari presided over the event while Cox’s Bazar District Jamaat Secretary Jahedul Islam and Town Jamaat Secretary Riaz Mohammad Shakil moderated it.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary generals Hamidur Rahman Azad and Mohammad Shahjahan, Central Working Council member Professor Ahsan Ullah, Chattogram City Jamaat Ameer Shahjahan Chowdhury and Hindu-Buddhist Welfare Trust Trustee Parimal Kanti Sheel spoke as special guests.
A number of women participated in the workers’ conference. Cox’s Bazar District Jamaat made arrangement for the women at Elias Mia Chowdhury High School ground just opposite to the main venue at Cox’s Bazar Government College.
