CHATTOGRAM, Feb 9, 2025 (BSS) - A Chattogram court has placed former Awami League lawmaker from Chattogram-15 constituency Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nadvi on a two-day remand in a murder case.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique issued the remand order as police produced Nadvi before the court and pleaded for five day remand.
After hearing, the court granted a two-day remand, said Humuyon Kabir, Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chattogram district court.
Former lawmaker Nadvi was taken in the court from the jail around 9.30 am today amid tight security. He was later taken back to prison with same security measures.
Maolana Mahbubul Hasan filed the case with city’s Panchlaish thana against Nadvi for his alleged involvement with the killing of Faisal Ahmed Shanto was a first-year BBA student of MES College in Chattogram.
Shanto, son of Zakir Hossain of Purba Rahmatpur area of Babuganj, Barisal, was shot dead during the anti-discrimination student movement in city’s Muradpur area on July 16 last year.
Detective arrested Nadvi from Uttara area on December 15 last year. He was placed on one-day remand next day in a case filed for killing ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the July-August movement in 2024.
