DHAKA, Feb 13, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a set of directives to ensure smooth traffic management around the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi.
“Traffic directives have been issued to ensure smooth vehicular movements and public safety during the Bishwa Ijtema on February 14-16 including the Akheri Munajat,” Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman said here today.
DMP outlined specific routes and restrictions for vehicular movements to avoid congestion around the Ijtema ground during the second phase of Ijtema in Tongi, he said.
According to the directives, vehicles from Dhaka and Chattogram divisions will be parked at Kadamtali market under Sector-15, near bridge-5 area and Uludah ground of sector-17, Uttara.
Vehicles from Sylhet and Khulna divisions will be parked at lake side ground of sector-15 of Uttara, while vehicles from Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions will be parked at west side of lake between bridge-10 and 11 and inside of sector-16 and Boubazar ground.
Vehicles from Barisal will be parked on BIWTA landing station near Dhour bridge and vehicles from Dhaka city will be parked on Swadesh properties vacant ground adjacent to 300 feet road.
As per directives, district buses, trucks, covered vans and other heavy vehicles will avoid from Radisson Blue to Khilkhet, Airport, Abdullahpur via Kamarpara routes from 4:00 am on February 16 ahead of the Akheri Munajat.
All vehicles instructed to use Mirpur-Gabtali road via Mohakhali and Bijoy Sarani from 4:00 am on February 16 as alternative route accept residents traveling from Uttara, air passengers, crews, vehicles for air craft operation, fire service, law enforcement agencies and ambulances.
Buses, trucks, covered vans and other heavy vehicles will avoid Abdullahpur and Dhaur Bridge intersection, instead of plying on Mohakhali-Bijoy Sarani-Gabtoli routes from 4:00 am on February 16.
Similarly, vehicles coming from North Bengal via Nabinagar, Baipail, and Ashulia were advised to avoid Kamarpara and Abdullahpur crossings and to use alternate routes via Savar, Gabtoli, or Dhaur Bridge crossing to Mirpur embankment.
Vehicles traveling via Airport road were instructed to use routes of Kuril Flyover, Pragati Sarani, and Bishwa Road crossings.
Traffic-North Division of DMP will arrange transport services from Padma U-loop to airport for outbound passengers on the day of Akheri Munajat.
Vehicles carrying pilgrims must park their transports in designated areas with the driver's name and mobile number displayed visibly.
Due to the collapse of the Bailey bridge under the flyover on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, drivers were urged to use the Azampur flyover. Pedestrians were requested to avoid crossing the flyover on foot for safety.
Parking on both sides of the road from Khilkhet to Abdullahpur via Dhaur Bridge is strictly prohibited.
The DMP has called for full cooperation from all to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain law and order during the Ijtema.
