RANGPUR, Feb 14, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has initially announced the names of five probable candidates for five parliamentary constituencies, out of total six, in Rangpur district.
Rangpur District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Golam Rabbani confirmed the announcement of the names of the candidates to local journalists here on Friday night.
He said that like the rest of the country, the names of the candidates have been announced for five out of the total six parliamentary seats in Rangpur district.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is preparing to field candidates for 300 seats ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, the party has already announced the names of most of the potential candidates for the election.
However, out of the six seats in Rangpur, only the name of the candidate has not been announced for the Taraganj-Badarganj (Rangpur-2) constituency.
Professor Golam Rabbani said that it would be announced for that seat shortly.
The candidates initially announced are: Assistant Secretary of Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat Professor Raihan Siraji is the candidate for Rangpur-1 constituency, which includes Gangachara upazila and part of Rangpur City Corporation.
The candidate announced for Rangpur Sadar-3 constituency is Professor Mahbubar Rahman Belal, a member of the Central Working Committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
The candidate for Pirgachha-Kawnia (Rangpur-4) constituency is Ameer ATM Azam Khan of Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami.
Ameer of Rangpur District Jamaat-e-Islami Jamaat Golam Rabbani has been announced as the candidate for Mithapukur (Rangpur-5) constituency. He was previously the Chairman of Mithapukur Upazila Parishad.
Assistant Professor Moulana Md. Nurul Amin has been announced as the candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for Rangpur (Pirganj-6) constituency.
Moulana Md. Nurul Amin is the General Secretary of the central committee of Bangladesh Majlisul Mufassirin and an Assistant Professor at Pirganj Senior Fazil Madrasa.
