DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS) - BNP's Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain has said United Nations (UN) report proved that what BNP had been saying on Awami League (AL) misrule for the last 17 years was true.

"BNP never lied," he told a seminar organized by the United Kingdom (UK) Swechchasebak Dal in London on Tuesday evening local time.

Dr. Zahid said: "The UN fact-finding team said what BNP said earlier was true. The news that Al Jazeera did is now proved to be true. So, it is found that whatever BNP says was true".

He said after the UN report, there was nothing left to protect the face of the Awami League in the international court or the domestic court.

"Dictator Hasina repeatedly said that she had turned the tide of development in the country. She had transformed it into a middle-income country. But the thing was that at least 16 billion dollars were laundered from Bangladesh every year," he said.

Hasina has imposed a loan of 5 thousand dollars on every person in Bangladesh while trying to make it middle-income, he added.

The BNP leader said every sector of the state has collapsed during the long misrule of Sheikh Hasina, adding: "The country's constitutional institutions can no longer function due to partisan. The Election Commission cannot hold fair elections. Election was rigged but no one spoke. The people had lost their freedom to vote."

"The investigation report of Sagar Runi has been delayed by 120 times. Now it is proven that Sheikh Hasina herself had them killed to save their lives. People did not believe these things earlier, but the bell of truth must ring," he said.

UK Swechchhasebak Dal President Nasir Uddin Shahin chaired the seminar while its general secretary Mohammad Abul Hossain moderated it.

Special guests included Chairperson's Advisers - Mahidur Rahman and UK BNP President MA Malek, General Secretary Qoysor M Ahmed, Europe and UK Ziaur Rahman Foundation Coordinator Kamal Uddin, former Chhatra Dal International Affairs Secretary Nasrullah Khan Junaid, UK BNP Joint Secretary Farvez, UK Jubo Dal President Afzal Hossain, General Secretary Babar Chowdhury, also spoke, among others.
