DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court today ordered to freeze 28 bank accounts of Additional Deputy Inspector General (Adi-DIG) of police Gazi Md Mozammel Haque and his family members where Taka 14 crore, 56 lakh and 63 thousand have been deposited.
Md Zakir Hossain Galib, Judge of the court after hearing on the issue, also ordered to seize 65 bighas of land owned by Mozammel and his wife worth about Taka 2 crore,19 lakh and 32 thousad. The court instructed to seize 12 deeds of Mozammel’s wife Farzana Mozammel worth about Taka 2.76 crore and another 10 deeds worth about Taka 79.83 lakh owned by his daughter Gazi Bushra Tabassum.
According to the court sources, Gazi Mozammel being a government officer became owner of nine institutions including holding the chairmanship of Breeze Pharmaceuticals Limited defying government rules and regulations. There are allegations of capturing others’ houses by force, acquiring lands from innocent people by torturing and taking them into remand and construction of illegal establishments by filling river against him.
He also deposited Taka 497.56 crore to 67 bank accounts owned by him, his wife, the sources said, adding that they also withdrawn Taka 485.26 crore from those accounts and still there are Taka 17.20 crore.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been investigating allegations of corruption, money laundering and amassing huge illegal wealth and money against Mozammel and his family members.
