DHAKA, Feb 22, 2025 (BSS) - Police have recovered a stolen CNG-run auto-
rickshaw and arrested three persons in this connection from Cumilla and
Brahmanbaria districts.
The arrestees are Alal, 30, Mithu Saha, 20, and Bashir Mia, 38, said media
release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to the police, the arrested persons are the active members of a
gang of thieves, and they were arrested after conducting a series of raids in
Cumilla and Brahmanbaria on Thursday.
According to Khilgaon Police Station, on February 17 last afternoon, a person
named Md. Sajal rented a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, owned by Mohammad Masud
Chowdhury, from the garage of late Salim Uddin in Khilgaon.
Sajal let a person named Rabbi Mia drive the CNG as a replacement. Later,
Sajal, Rabbi and some unknown people stole the CNG through a clever
deception. Owner Mohammad Masud Chowdhury filed a case with Khilgaon Police
Station after the incident.
During the investigation of the case, Alal and Mithu Saha, who were involved
in the theft of CNG, were arrested from the Budhairkandi area under
Bancharampur Police Station of Brahmanbaria District with the help of
Bancharampur Police Station.
Later, based on information provided by them, Bashir Mia was arrested with
the help of Bangra Bazar Police Station of Cumilla.
As per their information, the stolen CNG was recovered from the garage of
Anwar Hossain in the Paiyapathar area under Bangra Bazar Police Station of
Cumilla.
Legal action is being taken against the arrested, while efforts are on to
arrest others involved in the theft.
