DHAKA, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Jubodal will take “stern action” against the leaders or workers of the organization if anyone is found involved in terrorist activities or incidents against the interests of the mass people.

The organization's general secretary, Muhammad Nurul Islam Nayon, made the warning at a press conference at the National Press Club today.

"Jatiotabadi Jubodal wants to make it clear that no person or group will be allowed to engage in unlawful activities under the organization's name,” he said, adding, “A strict policy will be enforced to ensure that the organization's reputation is not tarnished in the future."

He continued, "We want to send a clear message to everyone, from the President and General Secretary of the Jatiotabadi Jubodal Central Committee to the workers in any ward: if any leader or member of the organization becomes involved in terrorist activities or any event that are anti-national or harmful to the people, it will offer them no mercy."

He went on saying, "Our organizational guardian, Tarique Rahman, has already made this clear in unequivocal terms, and we want to convey this message to all the leaders and workers of the Jatiotabadi Jubodal through the media."

Explaining the organization's policy decision, the General Secretary stated that Jubodal has always upheld disciplined and ideological political practices, and does not tolerate any illegal, immoral, or terrorist activities.

"Regarding the context of activities that go against the organization's ideology, the Jubodal Central Committee has already issued show-cause notices to approximately 60 leaders nationwide and expelled around 140 leaders," he said, adding, "Cases have also been filed against those involved in criminal activities in various parts of the country."

On February 22, an allegation was raised against Jahangir Alam, a member of the Sreepur Upazila Jubodal of Gazipur district, for his involvement in terrorist activities. As the allegations were found to be true through an internal investigation of the organization, he was expelled from the party along with his primary membership, he said.

Nayon said “Our stance is not confined to this matter alone. A criminal case was also filed against him at the Sreepur Police Station in Gazipur on Sunday, initiated by the Jubodal.”

He pointed out that in the past, if any leader or member of the party engaged in wrongdoing or terrorist activities, the organization developed a culture of hiding and denying the involvement of such individuals.

He stated, "We want to say that we’re already aware of several instances of misconduct involving our party leaders and workers, but we’ve never denied them. We’ve taken steps to ensure they’re held accountable. In some cases, we've issued show-cause notices, expelled individuals, and even dissolved committees."

He concluded, "Ultimately, expelling him (Jahangir Alam) from the party wasn’t enough, that is why we filed a criminal case against him yesterday, demanded his arrest, and have urged the relevant authorities to take appropriate legal action once he is apprehended."

Jubodal Senior Vice President Rezaul Karim Paul, First Joint General Secretary Billal Hossain Tarek, Organizing Secretary Kamruzzaman Jewel and Office Secretary Nurul Islam Sohel were present at the press conference.
