DMP arrests 283 more crime suspects 

DHAKA, March 1, 2025 (BSS) – As part of the intensified efforts to 
maintain law and order, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 
283 more people in 86 raids across the capital in the last 24 hours till 
Friday midnight, said a police statement. 

The number of arrestees has risen to 1304 individuals for their 
involvement in various crimes including, mugging, robbery, extortion and 
theft in the last five day since the DMP heightened the security 
arrangements since February 25. 
    
The arrested include eight robbers, 26 professional active robbers, six 
extortionists, 20 thieves, 16 identified drug dealers, 31 on warrants in 
previous cases.  

Police seized 300 rounds of bullets of Chinese rifle, three knives, three 
switch gears, five mobile phones and Tk 1,600 in cash from their 
possessions. 

They also recovered 10 liters of country-made liquor, 121 pieces of 
contraband yaba tablets, one 1.250kg of marijuana and 12.5 grams of 
heroin.

In the last 24 hours, 44 cases were registered at different police stations 
of DMP against the arrestees.

As part of strengthening the security arrangements, the DMP has 
reinforced their surveillance at the check posts and patrol in coordination 
with other law enforcing agencies. 

According to the Crime Command and Control Center of DMP, 586 
patrol teams of the DMP performed their duties in 50 police stations of 
Dhaka Metropolitan Police for public safety in the last 24 hours from 
00:01 am to 11:59 pm on Friday (February 28, 2025). 

The DMP operated 65 check posts at various important and strategic 
locations to increase security in the metropolitan area. In addition to the 
patrol teams of the DMP, 14 patrol teams of the CTTC, 12 of the Anti-
Terrorism Unit (ATU) and 10 patrol teams of the DMP and RAB are on 
duty in various crime-prone areas of the metropolis to maintain public 
safety and law and order. 

In addition, 20 check posts are operated by the specialized unit of the 
police, APBn, along with the DMP.
